Hopefully my absence hasnt been too noticeable I've been so busy making my swaps for a stampin up convention that I have just attended.

I was a bit neigtful of my blog. I made 400 swaps.

For those of you that are unaware of what a swap is it is the front of a card that you have designed and make you then swap it with another paper lover for one that they have design. 

Let me share my swap with you.

To make this little delightful swap I have used a lot of different products.        
Stampin'up  Classic ink pads
 -Cherry Cobbler
 -Always Artichoke        
 -Early Espresso
The Stamp set Called Field Flowers from the Stampin'up range and three diffident colored  card stock  Stampin'up  
 -Very Vanilla                             

 - River Rock
 - Soft Suede. 

I took piece of vanilla card stock and using the base flower from Fields of flowers made a mask (a stamped image that you cut out to use as a protector so that you dont get ink where you don't want it) I made three then I placed them on another piece of 6 1/2cm by 13 1/2cm Very Vanilla card stock where I didn't want to see my steam of my flower then I inked my steam from fof stamp set (Fields of flowers) with Always Artichoke my fav color at this time.
Then using Cherry cobbler ink I stamped the base image of the flower where I had left the voids from the masks. Using a  stamp-a-ma-jig and  top flower layer stamp from fof set, I layered the flower with Early Espresso ink. After doing that I cut my image into three,  all about 6 1/2cm by 4 1/2cm each.  

Then I took a piece of River Rock card stock 6 1/2cm by 4 1/2cm embossed it with Square Lattice embossing folder using a big shot.
Using a dauber, daubed  the edge and embossed pattern with Early  Espresso ink.    
I cut a thin strip of cherry cobbler 4mm and attach it to a piece of always artichoke denim ribbon, raped it around the river rock card before attaching it add a small piece of very vanilla card stock 2cm by 3cm with hemp twine With Love stamped on it and distressed with Early Espresso ink. Then I took all four pieces attached them to a piece of Soft Suede card stock 7 1/2cm by 21cm sewed the edges to complete the look.

Lads will be lads. . .

It's nice to create your own masterpiece from scratch. I started with a piece of whisper white 12 by 12 card stock, then using the stamp set called The Open Sea, I embossed the left hand side of the page with black and the right hand side in clear.
I sewed along the edges with grey cotton then stamped splotches in basic grey ink using a stamp from the stamp set called French Foliage then using a wonderful device called a Color Spritzer and a Stampin' Write Marker sprayed a touch of Pacific Point blue and Rich Razzleberry ink around the page and combining the Frost white shimmer paint and rubbing alcohol  and a few drops of basic grey ink in a spray bottle then lightly spraying the page, its not overly clear in this photo but the page has a light grey shimmer. From there I distressed the edge of my photo then backed the photo with a designer series paper from the Pocketful of Posies range. I used the same paper to punch out 4.4cm circles to create the swirly flowers at the top right hand and bottom left of the page.

For the title I used a wonderful stamp set called  Letter It, combining it with an ink color called basic grey and a light spray of shimmer paint.

I hope I have given you some more ideas and ways to incorporate stamping into your scrap lay outs.

The Little Ones

 

My two little boys, in this photo they would have you believe that butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths.

 

For this page I have used a combination of mediums stencilling, stampin, dry embossing and even sewing around the edge of the page to add character.

I have a lot of my mother in me, she had a button box full of bibs and bobs and I collect just about anything that I can put on a scrapbook page, which in this page is evident.

From the thick piece of string from a clothing bag, pearls from a broken necklace, a ribbon bow from I don’t know where, combining that with hand made flowers, wooden leaves, canvas die cuts, crystal wire trees, brads, a glass button and a resin mushroom married together with scraps of paper and balsa wood.

I hope this gives you some ideas; boy pages don’t have to be boring.

Imagine - Hand Made Flowers

This page was inspired by my sister Susan who encouraged me to use a product called gesso primer,using Stampin' Up! punches and plain card stock I have created a very diffent layout.

The flowers are hand made using punched out rich razzleberry card stock,painted with gesso and then using a color spritzer tool and Stamp 'n Write markers in both rich razzleberry and elegant eggplant to create a misted effect and on the leaves I have used the same technique to create the colour on the leaves.

Sunshine, lolly pops and . . .

Sunshine- its all about me!
Generalyl in the past I have chosen to keep my face out of my scraping lay outs, but my sister in law took this photo at the beach one afternoon and I loved it, so of couse I had to scrap it.
I love texture in my work building layers upon layers.  I am not content to have just paper and a photo but instead use many different mediums, wood, metal, beads, ribbon and ink to add depth and design to plain card stock.
In this lay out I have used Stampin' Up! basic black, crumb cake, regal rose rich, razzleberry card stock
Stampin' Up! rose red seam binding ribbon, metal emblishments and beads from my mother's button box (an old tin box about half a shoe box in size filled with odds and ends that my mother collected over many years dress making and raising children).
I have crystal effected pre-cut wooden swirls and married it in with a swirled die cuts.

Getting Started

When I first started scrapping  I didn't even realise there was a name for the art style I was using.  Being the consummate over achiever I didn't start on a small project, no as per usual I thought I would start with something I was passionate about. . .my wedding photos!  I incorporated photos, cards, flowers, leaves, twigs and anything else that I could get my hands on that married with the colour scheme, textures and tones of the entire event.  Yes the whole album weighs a literal ton but it genuinely speaks of the brilliant, colourful day that my partner and I celebrated.
It was only when I mentioned to my sister Susan what I had done that she told me that I was scrapping and that my creation was a scrap book!
So I am an eclectic scrapper and I have been hooked since then.  I scrap any photos and memento's of meaning to me and am proud to say that my scrap booking techniques have evolved dramatically in the past six years.
My approach to scrapping is to inspire people to take out their photos and memories and make them into something that they want to look at and show others; to create memories and beautiful artwork that anyone would be proud to call their own, to extend boundaries of what is acceptable and to challenge myself to highlight a photo artistically; and finally to share moments in time which can be recalled by a simple phrase, texture, image or shade and tone.
